OVER 65 PLACES TO PROMOTE YOUR EZINE!
© 2000 by Darlene Bishop, WriteBusiness.com
Everyone raves about New-List as an ezine promotion resource. And while I
agree, you should announce your ezine there
(http://scout18.cs.wisc.edu/cgi-bin/lwgate/NEW-LIST/),
I'm not as impressed with the service as everyone else seems to be. Since
they recently changed their policy to not allow business ezine listings,
the value of this service has diminished considerably for most publishers.
However, there are many other online promotion sources that you can submit
your ezine to, as well. These resources, along with some ad
swaps, and submission of articles to other ezines, will help your list grow
steadily from day one.
Realize that list promotion takes a lot of time and ongoing promotion. It's
not something you can do once and forget. At least, not until your list numbers
the thousands! Here, in no particular order, are some promotion ideas that
might help.
* Offer a free mousepad, or a free ad to new subscribers. Advertise this
in every ad and in all your promotions. See my site at
http://www.writebusiness.com
under "Special Offers - What's Hot This Week" to see just what I mean.
* Include subscribe information in your resource box that is included in
article submissions. If you would like a link to your articles for reprint
posted at WriteBusiness.com, visit the website and look under Articles for
Reprint (a great place to find free content, too!) or send an email to
mailto:writebusiness3@sendfree.com
for the submission
guidelines.
* Write an ad for your ezine and submit it everywhere you
can find... indices, directories, search engines. Selfpromotion.com at
http://selfpromotion.com/?CF=Copeland_&_Lane
is a great resource for submissions. You can use it free for a couple
of weeks, then for a minimum $10 you can use it indefinitely. I use it for
my own site and ezine, plus several clients' sites that I promote. It's the
best thing
that I've found to simplify the submission process.
* Visit Kate Schultz's E-Zinez site at
http://www.e-zinez.com. Kate
really knows her stuff. She has a Handbook on E-Zines and an E-Zine (her
spelling!) search engine that are very helpful, too.
* Swap ads with any and every ezine you can, and use your free ad to advertise
your ezine, not simply your website. You'll be promoting two birds with one
ad! This will build your subscriber base quicker than you can imagine. Many
of the sites below list publishers who will swap ads with you.
* Get Lifestyle Publishing's Directory of Ezines at
http://www.lifestylespub.com/cgi-bin/ezines.cgi?12498
I'm an affiliate for Lifestyle because I think it's a worthwhile project.
The directory is updated regularly and lists hundreds of ezines that accept
advertising -- some free, most paid. But if you invest 25¢ for a subscriber
and
get $1.00 back, it's worth it. After all, you are building a
business. Right?
* Visit Top Ezine Ads
and submit your ezine, PLUS check into the service! Find publishers who'll
swap top position and exclusive ads with you.
* Visit ONElist at
http://www.onelist.com and similar
services, and search for "ezine announcement" or "list announcement." There
are a number of places to advertise your ezine. I signed up for a few recently,
and the subscribers continue to trickle in. Nothing major, but every single
subscriber counts.
Here are a few examples:

* Visit List-Universe and subscribe to several of their lists on list building.
They have a number of related websites, as well. This is a great
resource.
http://list-universe.com
* Apply for an ezine award at one of several places listed at List-Resources
(part of List-Universe).
http://list-resources.com/
* There's a huge list of ezines online at eZine Search at
http://homeincome.com/search-it/ezine/.
They list ezines by category, and you need to be sure to submit your ezine
to this list.
Here are some additional places to list your ezine.
